Ready for Sun

Ready for Sun

Coming into second semester I still had some questions about this team.  Were we going to be ready by race day?  Are we training hard enough? Are there going to be any more brothers trying to join the team?  All questions have been answered.  After the winter trip our team has really responded.  We are consistently getting in our 6 days riding and 3 days in the gym.  I have seen, and I think so have my fellow teammates, my legs double in size since coming back to school.

We are also really starting to develop a phenomenal team aspect.  I can say without a doubt that the guys on the bike team are my best friends in the house.  I know that they will have my back, and come race day, I wouldn’t want anyone else on my team other then these guys.  Chris has done a great job leading us this semester, Joe has been showing us what a work ethic really is, and AJ shows us how to hold ourselves accountable to our busy schedules to make sure we get our rides in along with keeping our grades up.

I have also loved how the house has responded to us since getting back to school.  They are finally realizing that even though we are just four rookies, we are training hard day in and day out and that we plan on being there come lap 200.  Right now we are not ready for race day, but with the work ethic I’ve seen us all display, we have a very good chance to challenge the best teams in the field.

We’ve been inside much more then we wanted to at this point, the weather has been terrible, but we have savored the rides outside.  You never really realize how beautiful Bloomington is until you do a fourty mile ride to Lake Lemon and it’s completely frozen over.  Those are the kind of rides that make you fall in love with the sport, and keep you training until April 26th.

Coming from a cross country and track backround I was skeptical about becoming a “cyclist”.  I can now say that I love riding my bike every day.  I look forward to it, and I think about the race every day.  I am truly living the lifestyle and so are my teammates.  We have a great team, and we can’t wait to see our hard work culminate on race day.

59 days!
